About Us

My name is Radek Vyskočil, and I am from the Czech Republic. I have an IT education and have spent the last 15 years operating in the gray zone, making privacy a topic of great interest to me. This project was born out of the Czech government's recent attempt to implement mass online surveillance, storing the complete history of all online activity for six months without reason.

The Ministry of the Interior tried to sneak this madness into law through an inconspicuous clause, and when it was exposed, they quickly distanced themselves from it. Huge thanks go to independent experts who monitor legislative changes or to someone who leaked the real intent. Currently, the government can track:

  • Telecom providers store metadata (IP address, connection time/duration) for six months.
  • Google, Apple, Facebook, and other tech giants provide user data upon government request.

I do not engage in illegal online activities, but I also do not want anyone snooping into my personal matters. It is equivalent to having a government agent sitting behind me, taking notes on my conversations. Why should anyone have access to my data and online movements?

Bans and restrictions on personal privacy and rights are easiest to enforce under the guise of a crisis, and people even applaud them – just look at COVID. Because this attempt by the Ministry of the Interior infuriated me so much with their attitude of "nobody knows anything" and "where did this come from," I decided to launch zerophone.eu, offering phones with the highest level of encryption for secure communication and private internet browsing.
